Tara
Rosling
Summer 2006
Shaw
Festival
Niagara on the
Lake
In
summer 2006, festival attendees had a real
treat. Tara Rosling will be played the lead in two
productions. The first play 'The Heiress'
based on the Henry James novel
"Washington Square" opened on 5 May and closed in the first week of
October. Tara played the role of Catherine Sloper.
Tara had top billing in another show
as well - 'The Magic Fire'. Her character - Lise - functioned as a
narrator of sorts, casting her memory back to when she was a young girl
living in Argentina. The body of the play takes place in 'the past'
& with Tara watching & interracting with her younger self (a
very young actress) & her family in a time of very
heated political circumstance. It ran from 11 June to 8 Oct.
People who were lucky enough to see Tara play Annie in "The Miracle
Worker" at the Atlantic Theatre Festival in Wolfville Nova Scotia are
well aware of the power this outstanding actor projects from the stage.
If you have never seen her work, don't miss 2007's productions
in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
The late
theatrical impresario, Jack Sheriff, called Tara a chameleon. If you
meet her after a performance, you probably will have no idea with whom
you are speaking.
When the
lieutenant governor of Nova Scotia went backstage to meet the cast of
“The Miracle Worker”. Her question to Tara was, “What part did you
play?” Tara’s answer, “I was playing the Annie Sulivan (the miracle
worker)”.
