![]() This private ferry has plyed this route for over 100 years. The first ferryin 1885 was horse driven & was owned and piloted by Augustus Davis. The horse-driven ferry was used until 1916 when a new ferry equipped with a Fairbanks Morse gasoline engine was built. This same engine propelled the ferry until 1957 so the purchase was a good idea. ![]() No government money is used to subsidize this ferry company. The McColgan family has operated the ferry since 1956. ![]() People wishing to go from Quyon Québec to Fitzroy Harbour save a lot of time by taking this ferry. ![]() There are 2 ferries that service this route. That shows how popular it is. Click here for the Caribou Nova Scotia to Wood Islands P.E.I. ferry.
