Perugia, Italy![]() Tickets are purchased at this machine using coin, bills or credit card. . . . ![]() Tickets are inserted into the slot where they are time stamped and returned to the rider. The gates are glass that open when the ticket is passed through and time stamped. This system is all automated. There are no drivers or ticket collectors. ![]() The cars pull up to the station where riders enter and exit the cars. ![]() The cars appear at the stations in about 3 minute intervals so riders can wait for less crowed cars. The system permits additional cars to be placed on the line for peak traffic operations. In peak periods, the cars can arrive at 60 second intervals. The maximum transport capacity per direction is 3000 persons per hour. . . . ![]() Since the system requires no ticket collectors or drivers, it can be operated 24 hours per day. ![]() The tracks can be built over streets and between tightly packed buildings. The system can be installed near scenic parts of town so it becomes a tourist attraction. ![]() The tracks of this system also go underground.
