My
Laser Vision Correction Experience
Where I work a few people
were taking about laser vision correction surgery so I decided to Give
LASIK MD a call. I went in for my first examination to see if my eyes
were suitable for for the procedure. I was impressed by the efficiency
of the LASIK MD operation. My eyes were examined by 3 technicians who
all kept asking me if I had any questions about the procedure. By the
end of the visit, they seemed satisfied that my eyes would survive the
procedure.
The next day I was called by one of the technicians who had some
concerns about the pressure in my eyes so she asked me to come in to
have one of the surgeons take a look at my eyes. When I went in I met
one of the doctors who examined my eyes. He determined that my eyes
were suitable for correction and I could have the operation.
Just to make sure, he had me make an appointment with a technician in
another office to do an eye field mapping so they could have a baseline
map of my eyes for future check ups. I visited the other office a
couple of days later and my eyes where given a clean bill of health.
On operation day, I was given an examination by another technician and
then I was offered a tranquillizer pill that I refused. I felt that my
testing had been so thorough, I had nothing to worry about. At last I
was ushered into the operating room where I met the doctor who was to
perform the procedure. He proceeded to give me a short version of many
of the tests given to me by the technicians. It gave me a real sense of
security when I realized how many checks I went though before my eyes
were touched.
The entire operation was completed in a couple of minutes with very
little discomfort. I found the wait and anticipation a lot worse than
the speedy operation. When I left the operating room I was given a pair
of sunglasses to wear and I was instructed on how and when to
administer the various types of eye drops I was to use. I was then told
to lie back and rest for an hour. My driver them came to drive me home
where I was told to administer eye drops and take a nap. Watching T.V.
or using a computer for the first 24 hours is discouraged. Driving your
own car home is another NO NO.
The next day I came in to see a technician who checked the healing
process. I have another appointment for a week later. In my opinion,
LASIK MD takes very good care of its patients.
Would I do it again? I am kicking myself that I didn't have it done
years earlier. My distance vision is sharp as a tack, in fact, I think
I see much more clearly than I used to with my glasses on.
