Billy Bishop / Island Airport, Toronto, Ontario The ferry (Marilyn Bell) takes both passengers and vehicles to the airport. The ride is a mere 121 metres, the world’s shortest scheduled ferry run. Marilyn Bell was the first person to swim across Lake Ontario (52 km). It is rather amusing that the ferry that has the world's shortest run is named after a Canadian who swam such a long distance. . . .  Here is the ferry dock at Billy Bishop Airport,formerly known as Toronto Island Airport. It is operated by the Toronto Port Authority.  The check in area features Apple iMacs at every counter. Porter Airlines flies Canadian-built Bombardier Aerospace Q400 turboprop aircraft that are the quietest turboprops flying today. They have a revolutionary Noise and Vibration Suppression (NVS) System that also reduces cabin vibration. Q400s have a maximum cruise speed of 667 km/h that cover routes under 900 km. as quickly as most jets. The Q400 aircraft is built in Toronto at the Bombardier Aerospace plant & engines are designed and manufactured in Halifax Nova Scotia. This Pratt & Whitney PW150A engine produces nearly twice the take-off power of older turboprop engines. These engines also have significantly improved fuel-efficiency.
